Repentance

In the absence of more exalted and maybe also more time-consuming inspirations, I was going to just write a sarcastic and maybe even hurtful piece about Hollywood, but then I stopped myself mid-stream as I suddenly realised there is probably no niche in all of the human and animal kingdoms probably less deserving of being satirised than that of Hollywood. So that’s why, if you’re wondering, this piece isn’t satirising Hollywood even though it sprung out of that very initial desire. Where would we be after all without their endearing and shallow mix of violent, sexual, amusing and occasionally socially aware entertainments? We’d be screwed.
