Voices

By Roger Eno, brother of Brian.

Morning Time with Hunter

There’s obviously nothing more to prove in terms of the farce of the current US administration, and the sick fawning joke of most of the media covering up that freak show - and this after having witnessed their treatment of the previous administration, where their sole interest was hunting ad nauseum for anything with which to attack Trump. But anyway imagine if the man in the video below was not the son of Joe Biden but instead of Donald Trump - how much outrage and secret orgiastic delight would the BBC for instance be choking on? But such organisations are not objective news outlets, they are propaganda institutions whose focus is the pushing of specific ideologies and agendas; and so by absolute contrast to how they would behave were this a video of a son of Donald Trump, I presume they are busily engaged in looking in some other more useful direction.

But, regarding Hunter, this ally to the cause, whatever that cause might be, if they ever did feel pressured enough by some surrounding noise to momentarily address issues like corruption, nepotism, crack cocaine addiction, making pornography with prostitutes, or whatever, it would most likely end in a deeply felt piece in which the message and lesson we have all learnt here is to hold this poor victim of circumstances in our loving embrace, and protect him from the cruel and judgemental world that would seek to condemn and exploit his pain. This man is in fact a wonderful hero for acknowledging publicly the troubles and weaknesses which he has conquered, and is a most luminous light to us all. Next.

It appears the good censors at Goggle/YouTube have removed this video for everyone’s good of course, but anyway here is daddy yelling at a female reporter that his butt’s been wiped:

“Oh Mr President, you’re so much fun! If only I could respond with a similar intoxicating witticism, but alas I am but a humble, stupid political journalist who cannot soar at will to such heights.”

Unusual Choice

“If you somehow lived in any great painting, what would you pick?”
“I dunno. Maybe the central panel of the Triptych of the Temptation of St. Anthony by Hieronymus Bosch.”
“Are you serious!?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?”
“Just seems a bit of an odd choice.”
“I don’t see why. It’s a great painting.”
“It’s amazing, but it’s not exactly idyllic. I don’t think I’d want to live there.”

She Doesn’t Love BLM

And she doesn’t seem particularly mad about Marxism either. I just don’t get some people’s cynicism towards totalitarian systems of absolute state control run by the kind of power-mad, psychotic hypocrites you should probably expect to dwell at the top of such systems. I suppose it’s just one of those mysteries I might never figure out.

PCR Creator on Fauci

As you can see in this short clip below, creator of the PCR tests used for testing for Covid, Kary Mullis, quite a while back was not exactly complimentary about people like Tony Fauci, and the wilful or ignorant misinterpretation of such tests. Of Fauci, the main man about Covid protocols in the US and who has been revealed to have pretty disconcerting ties to the Wuhan laboratory, he says, “Guys like Fauci get up there talking - he doesn’t know anything about anything, and I’d say that to his face. Nothing. The man thinks you can take a blood sample and stick it in an electron microscope, and if it’s got a virus in there you’ll know it.” (And here he laughs at the absurdity of this.)
“Those guys have got an agenda, which is not what we would like them to have, being that we pay them to take care of our health in some way.”

He also talks of how the information shown by these PCR tests are giving can be in effect extremely vague, and, despite certain people’s claims to certainty, can be more or less used to show the apparent existence of any condition if the desire is there to interpret them in a certain way. Depending on the number of cycles used, traces of anything can be detected to the point of meaninglessness.

Exciting Medical News

As we see from the above image, the CDC in the US is recommending laboratories to “consider transition to another test . . . that can facilitate detection and differentiation of SARS-Cov-2 and influenza viruses.” Which naturally implies that the tests they’ve been using are by contrast not facilitating detection and differentiation of these two viruses. That’s quite interesting. The media will be all over this. I’m sure they will.

Meanwhile of course exactly at the same time the world went super mental crazy about COVID, the flu, having been around for thousands of years, more or less it seems disappeared. What a coincidence. The tests it seems weren’t sufficient to differentiate between the two viruses, but somehow they were simultaneously able to declare with such absolute confidence that COVID was and is rampant, while the flu, which had been around forever, practically vanished. They even gave reasons why this happened - though I don’t remember an extremely biased interpretation of tests which weren’t differentiating between the two viruses ever mentioned as being particularly relevant. It seems the poor flu was a victim of positive discrimination . . . or is it negative?

I don’t know about you but I’m going to continue to follow the science because whenever science is mentioned we can be sure we’re dwelling in a happy land of pure objectivity, governed by perfectly wise, neutral and trustworthy beings.

Scared

“How do I get over being scared of what other people think of me?”
“Imagine being in a room, and at the same time as you’re nervous and scared of what other people there think about you -  that is what’s going on in someone else’s head about you - they’re stood there scared of what’s going on in your head about them.”

Aggression and Defence

Thus might all be a bit tedious, but anyway having written it I might as well post it.

If one group of people, or say a nation, is preparing to attack another, or is actually attacking - for instance these aggressors could be using some hyped threat to massively erode civil liberties - if only the aggressive side is aware of the nature of their relationship, then obviously the other side is in a very weak position, and until it acknowledges the aggression virtually helpless with only its previous reserves, independent of this current situation, amounting to its powers of resistance.
It is in the interests of the aggressors that the targeted group remain for as long as possible in ignorance of this state of aggression. Thus it can enact its aggression without resistance.

Why would the passive side be unaware? The thing about aggression, including its preparations, is it is generally pretty visible and obvious, so there has to be a lot of deception in operation but there must also especially be wilful self-deception by the targeted peoples. In truth the aggressor can count to the point of certainty on this helpful passivity and even cooperation from very significant numbers of these targets of their aggression.
Why? Without going into it, issues like servility, cowardice, the gullible submitting of minds to the influence and pressures of a corrupt propagandist media, and so on may be relevant.

Dealing with aggression and toxicity for most of us is very unpleasant and stressful, so the desire is very strong for it to to not be real.
Maybe being polite and nice to the aggressor will placate them and the unpleasantness will vanish.
“Be nice to the bully.” Not effective. In the animal kingdom, in such situations of one seeking the dominant role, finally one animal or group of animals submits, and this submission is acceptance of the other’s dominance, and subsequent freedom to exercise this dominance.

Only active resistance or its palpable threat can weaken the dominant from exerting itself as it wills. Otherwise the submitter is simply at the mercy of the character of someone whose very nature is to dominate, and who will most likely push their power and the other’s submission further and further.

A toxic bully is not interested or impressed by reasoning, pleasantness, etc. Appealing to his better nature will simply buy him time before going further down the same path, and presumably from a position of greater strength. For example, appeasement of Hitler through the 1930s.

When people are so toxic, their toxic thought processes work along the lines that you trusting in their better nature is a mark of your stupidity, and so a weakness to be deservedly exploited. You are not meeting them on the relevant plane which is power, not morality.
They have to feel the weight and power of the opposing spirit rising against them to significantly affect their actions. They also of course have a huge drive to achieve victory of their ego, and the crushing of the felt rival to this ego’s sense of triumph. It takes a lot for such people to relinquish these very important pleasures.

In a war only an aggressor can finally win. Even if one side is apparently in a defensive state for so long, this still has to turn to aggression to defeat the enemy. Muhammad Ali against George Foreman comes to mind where Ali absorbed ineffective attacks for round after round from a physically superior but now tiring Foreman, before suddenly switching to attack and swiftly ending things. Ali still had to turn to attack to decide the fight. To add, with its set parameters, one could win a boxing fight on points, but in normal aggression, matters aren’t decided by an external judge awarding points!

Without actively defeating the aggressor, even if this aggressor temporarily exhausts his resources through his unsuccessful campaign, his retreat will amount to regathering his resources before planning to attack again later with more force, if at all plausible.

Conjures Up

“When we think of Hollywood, what do we think of?”
“Pedophiles?”
“No! Don’t be ridiculous! We think of stunning entertainment. And what else besides entertainment is conjured up in our minds?”
“Vacuity?”
“No! Hollywood conjures up sunshine and physical perfection and a deep sense of social justice.”
“Oh. I was way off the mark.”

Power in Words

“There’s power in words.”
“It depends on the words. ‘I surrender.’ There’s not much power in those words.”
“But at least you’re letting someone know you’re surrendering. It might save you your life. They might kill you otherwise”
“They might still kill you. But, whatever about power, if you were going surrendering I suppose, there wouldn’t be much point in keeping it to yourself. You’re better off advertising the fact.”

Racist Toddlers

We must defend our culture from these six month old bigots. It’s actually terrifying how much hate these babies are spreading. Only remorseless left-wing indoctrination and a totalitarian state can save us.

“But shouldn't we just focus on selling toys and game for the children?”
“No! What the hell is wrong with you!? Every day we must fight this bigotry! These little children have diseased minds! We want them to have sane, healthy minds like ours. You do understand that, don’t you?”
“Oh. I do. I see that very clearly now.”

Balance

If it wasn’t for me writing this, you wouldn’t be reading it. “Yeah, but if it wasn’t for me reading it, you wouldn’t be writing it.” I’m afraid that doesn’t really make sense. For one thing, I’ve no idea if you’re a reading it or not, though if you really are intent on balancing things out here, you could maybe say instead, “Whatever about you writing it, if it wasn’t for me reading it, well then I wouldn’t be reading it.” You could even say it with a defiant look, regardless though of whether I see the look or not. But even without seeing it I’d still detect the tone. I might pretend I didn’t notice it, that I was innocently lost in this interesting and disinterested intellectual exchange we were supposedly having, but in truth of course I’d be all too aware of it, and underneath the surface I’d probably be looking to re-assert myself the moment I’d see an opening. Though of course it would be done very innocently.

But why all this wrestling for dominance? Maybe we can’t help ourselves. This assertion of ourselves goes too deep, and if somehow we haven’t been asserting it healthily, then it gets buried and tries to assert itself unhealthily. It’s been presumably defeated, forced underground, and now it needs victories to re-balance things. I don’t think I can go any further without things getting very dull, so we’ll leave it at that and call it a draw! We have perfectly equally asserted ourselves, and no one is humiliated. “But that means no one has achieved victory! That’s humiliating for everyone!” No, no, we must somehow get beyond this kind of stuff.

Dostoevsky, Intellectual Vanity

I was reading an article written by Dostoevsky, broadly about literacy, and while wholly promoting its desirability and spreading in 1860s Russia, he addressed one apparent point of the time which was a considerably higher proportion of literary peasants ending up in jail than the much more numerous illiterate. Just the line I’ll show seems very appropriate as to why it is from academic circles so much toxic and inane ‘progressive’ ideas emanate. Remember just because one is dealing with fields such as social philosophy doesn’t mean human nature has obediently left the scene! There can be all too human kinds of vanities and egotistical desires lurking within such sphere, and in truth the whole essence of of various movements, isms - socialism, fascism, etc - is to be vehicles for those desires. Anyway Dostoevsky’s line:

All we wished to show was how literacy as a kind of privilege can give rise to arrogance and presumptuousness and lack of respect for one’s own environment and social position.

And so with their various progressive theories, critical race theory, etc bred within the academic environments, that for their protagonists are felt internally as marks of their superiority over the ignorant hordes, and vehicles of power over them, well Dostoevsky’s line above gives us the underlying psychological essence of all this inane intellectual perversion. Also regarding “lack of respect for one’s own environment”: disrespecting one’s own nation’s flag or anthem is one of the most obvious visible manifestations of modern progressivism, even perhaps when paid in sport to represent that nation!

What a Performance!

Watch a Brit stand up for Americans and stomp on these US school board commie/fascist pricks! This is fantastic. The second video shows the kind of unbelievable tyrannical creeps he’s reacting so strongly against. And these are what are called liberals - what the hell are they supposed to be liberal about?! They’re about as liberal as a gulag. Footage there of them in action in the person of their acting head is from the third minute on. The idea of the education of children in the hands of these kinds of people . . . It should be seen very clearly these elements, acting as they are, are utter traitors to their people and nation; and as you’ll see, this guy is not making the mistake of trying to be nice to them. Screwed up toxic bullies don’t get too impacted or impressed by people they consider enemies to their egos being polite and nice to them.

I suppose if that was one of the talents Isaiah was given, he was probably supposed to exercise it. Picasso said art was an instrument of war, and so of course can the word. But I must say I can only hope Isaiah never hurt anyone’s feelings with that mouth of his.

“Yeah.”
“That’s an amazing coincidence, isn’t it?”
“It’s not a coincidence.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s kind of like saying it’s a coincidence that the top sprinters are really fast.”
“But they are really fast.”
“Yeah, but it’s not a coincidence.”
“What else could it be?”
“Look we’ll just leave it at that.”

Tribute to Tarkovsky, Genius

(I see this is blocked from uploading outside of YouTube, so the link here: https://youtu.be/pRtcu-7BCLE)

Music by Eduard Artemiev in tribute to the filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky with whom he worked on several films. Most of the footage is taken from the film Mirror. The quality of the audio upload leaves a bit to be desired. I’d consider Tarkovsky probably the one true genius in terms of filmmaking - using ‘genius’ in its very exclusive or elitist sense! Given the very solitary nature of genius, and its extreme rarity; and the extremely communal and logistically complex nature of film-making, this environmental conflict makes the meeting of those two worlds, the genius and filmmaking, very, very unlikely. And it’s not like there’s all these geniuses either wandering about wondering what to do with themselves!

One quick effort to encapsulate something of what I mean by genius. Of course it includes extreme intelligence, but it is not something which can be measured, like an iq test. That is simply a scale of some kind of intelligence which can be measured and understood by other intelligences. It is within the realms of reasoning.

Think of hydrogen and oxygen. The two coming into contact with each other, in terms of reasoning, intellect, should simply mean there they are together in the same vicinity. That a completely other energetic form arises, water, is not a rational process. Reason, from a position of naked ignorance of the phenomenon of water, couldn’t possibly deduce its arising, no matter how much knowledge one possessed about hydrogen and oxygen . A mysterious spirit of deep genius, and endlessly deeper than reasoning is involved. Something of this same spirit is alive in the genius - and with some regularity. Tarkovsky was certainly imbued with it - which though isn’t to say his films are necessarily flawless creations - and given the, we’ll say, structural complexity of films is also pretty inevitable. Tarkovsky was undoubtedly alive as a genius in the sense of the visual, though allied to total integrity towards truth. And so while his films may contain astonishing images and sequences, these images are never sensual ends in themselves, but rather inner, spiritual truth is always the higher end. And Tarkovsky actually, despite his visual mastery, even called colour in film a dead-end, as I think he considered it a temptation towards a wallowing in beauty at the expense of truth.

On the other hand though in terms of the overall art of film, unlike say a traditional artist can simply be a master in the visual sense, but there is very much a narrative element to films also, and here Tarkovsky is not so much in his natural domain, and compared to his genius for image, here he has to wrestle with this comparatively alien element.
Anyway, blah, blah, blah . . . Below the composer of the linked musical tribute, Artemiev, talks of working with Tarkovsky.

New Obama Book (Updated)

[I slightly altered the following piece written a little while previously in honour of a true hero of all of ours, and so here I humbly place it before whoever’s eyes and minds it may encounter.]

Barack Obama has a new book coming out called The Bootcamp Years. Oh no sorry, a quick look reveals its actual title is A Promised Land. The mix-up was both understandable and excusable. Other titles of his I see include, upon this quick fact check, Dreams From My Father, The Audacity of Hope and of course Of Thee I Sing - A Letter to My Daughters. There is also Be Vigilant But Not Afraid.

What an arsehole. Has he no shame? “No, no! It’s so beautiful!” Yes, yes, the fault I see is mine. It’s just so unusual, so unexpected to meet with such unashamed, unironical and remorseless integrity of spirit, this vision of virtue in human motion - and so, all in all, I lacked the purity within to accept such purity without. You may criticise me but you may not judge me. Anyway, arising from my shame and contrition, I will try to work some of his inspiration into future conversations. It’s the least I can do.

“Blah, blah, blah, blah...”(in lieu of imaginary words)
“Yes, we must be vigilant but not afraid.”
“Oh my God, you’re so right! You have infused within me the audacity of hope!”
“Yes, and with this audacity we may some blessed day reach the promised land!”
“Yes, yes! And in this future bliss, with dreams of our fathers playing in our minds, we will write letters to our daughters of how all this came to pass!”

Unfortunately, as you’ll have noticed, even when under the exalting influence of Obama’s own words and many hours of meditation,  I was still unable to ascend my spirit to the sufficient pitch to be able to plausibly work in the ‘Of thee I sing’ bit. And just to say that while, for some odd reason I can’t quite put my finger on, I haven’t read any of Obama’s output - maybe an aversion to literary vomit - if I was to begin with one of them, then, yes, it probably would be hard to look beyond Of Thee I Sing - A Letter to My Daughters. I’m actually getting emotional even just thinking of reading it - and I don’t easily get emotional.

And remember, if you ever have any niggling and unusual doubts as to the merits of Obama, this is the man of whom no less an authority than Joe Biden said back in 2007 was “the first mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean.” I see by the way the current version of Biden is claiming that the biggest threat to the US is white supremacism. Have you any idea where we might find some of these white supremacists, Joe?

“It doesn’t get much cooler than that.”

Landscape with the Fall of Icarus

By Pieter Bruegel from around 1560, although I see it is now considered more likely a copy of Bruegel’s original rather than the original work itself. It’s a quite typical and almost humorous Bruegelian detail that we have to look closely to even spot Icarus in the painting, in the front right of the painting, as he disappears into the water, between the man on the shore and the galleon. There can be a homeliness and tenderness towards ordinary life in northern Renaissance and particularly Dutch painting of that time that gives a very refreshing contrast to the more overtly intellectual and often epic seriousness of the Italian Renaissance.

And now it’s just striking me that the treatment of Icarus by Bruegel in the painting may be intentional: that Bruegel is, rather than treating such ancient hallowed classical themes with traditional respect, is almost disparagingly dismissing them as an even silly detail within the natural life. And regardless of whether this is Bruegel’s overt intent or not, this is how the painting comes off. I don’t think anyone could seriously experience the tragedy of Icarus as somehow dominating this painting, in both external drama and psychological or emotional mood.

Identity Politics

Here we go again, just because we can. Below, despite perhaps appearances, is apparently the same person, not two separate people. The lower picture is how Joe Biden used to look shortly before he began to look the way he does now. A special shout out of course to that wondrous shape-shifting right ear.

Trump Questions Identity of Biden

I recently didn’t bother worrying about how weird it might appear to question the reality of the identity of the person currently claimed to be Joe Biden, and so showed photos of Biden old and new that seem pretty startling in terms of important divergent details, like having different ears and nose, whilst also mentioning how these people who look like two separate people also talk like two separate people. https://wwwinabstentia-andrewk.blogspot.com/2021/06/consistency.html

Well, Donald Trump has now gone there also, and very publicly questioned who the hell this person really is: “I don’t know if it’s Joe, to be honest with you. It’s somebody! Does anybody know who it is? It’s somebody!”

It’s 1 minute 20 seconds in:

Cancel Culture

Two of the most, if not the most famous literary works written within the era of Soviet Russia were The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, and Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak. How did these books get on in their time in their homeland? Naturally, not very well. They were victims of cancel culture, banned, and Pasternak treated to a vicious campaign of abuse after winning the Nobel Prize - which the state coerced him into turning down. For the book to be quietly or secretly taken out of the country and published abroad was itself treated as a very serious and treasonous act. Other writers were executed or sent to the Gulag for not being sufficiently in sync with the regime and its ideology, for within this system the artist’s proscribed role is specifically to be a propagandist for the cause.

One friend, the critic Victor Shklovsky sent Pasternak a telegram of congratulations upon the announcement of the Nobel award, but later after seeing the way the official wind was blowing, wrote a letter to a local newspaper accusing Pasternak of “a low act of treachery.”

Years later Shklovsky explained his own act of cowardice and treachery towards Pasternak, a man acting with very rare courage and independence within this brutal and tyrannical regime thus: “One day everything will come to light: the records from those meetings, the letters from those years, the interrogation procedures, the denunciations - everything. And all that sewage will also drench up the stench of fear.”

Who has most reason to know exactly the nature of life under such regimes of socialism as the USSR? Naturally people within the academic world. And from where is the ‘progressive’ movement particularly emanating, with its programs of leftist indoctrination at an educational level. Of course the answer is the academic world. These people have no defence for their actions. It’s not a matter of hypothesising about the stultifying nature of life under such totalitarian systems. It’s actually a matter of clear historical record, and there is nothing remotely obscure about this. As the KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov described such people, they are traitors of democracy, and of life. https://wwwinabstentia-andrewk.blogspot.com/2021/05/kgb-informant-details-woke-subversion.html

Below someone from the USSR talks of the Marxist indoctrination being pushed within US schools at the moment with their noxious critical race theory agenda. She is a little difficult to understand, given her accent. Nice to see the school board chairperson order the parents not to applaud her afterwards. It’s good to order people about.

Birthing People, Political Correctness

We see here the Biden administration decide to substitute at a pretty official level “birthing people” for mothers, because it’s supposedly more precise. Hopefully that will shore up a lot of confusion about the nature of the kind of people who specifically give birth - they are birthing people.

I remember when first hearing of political correctness as some phenomenon arising in the US, not knowing what it was but I think my felt but unarticulated impression was of some kind of artificial, sterile, bureaucratic spirit inserting itself into life. Now these years later we see it coming into something like full fruition. I don’t think it needs arguing the people in sway to this spirit are pathetic and crazy. They really have fatally split from their common sense. These aren’t deep, fascinating intellectual issues and avenues. They are having to go out of their way to be as artificial and stupid as possible. I see on the YouTube page a couple of comments on the abandoning of “mothers” or “moms” that it is so dehumanising in the attitude towards moms, and ‘“Birthing people” is something aliens would call mothers on earth.’

In spiritual terms with things like lust or greed or anger and so on, these are spirits, like there is a spirit of envy, and actually people through somehow opening of doors, may become possessed by specific spirits or demons who specialise in one of these areas. Whether one believes in this or not it is clear that with all these phenomena, like say pornography or a gambling or drug addiction, things don’t stay at the same level once giving into it. The autonomous self may to a large degree vacate the premises, and what is left is a host to this urge which becomes more extreme in its desires. This will happen in gambling even to the point of total self-ruining in a short space of time. So we can say the relevant spirit is suicidally opposed to the well-being of us, and yet even still we may again and again succumb to it. The specific mission of each of these spirits is to literally drag us down. I think actually even in ordinary intellectual use, rather than perversely looking for mystery, a genuine inimical and evil spirit is actually the most sensible in understanding what’s going on here.

Either way though, there is unarguably a spirit of lust, anger, greed and so on which all don’t just reach a certain reasonable point of satisfaction and then retreat back to respectability. No, they all lead into further and further extremes. And with this political correctness, it’s the same thing. My vague feeling as a child was correct, and it is a spirit that is inimical to life, and if allowed would go further and further along its horrible pathways. Almost humorously to add it’s obvious the visceral pull of temptations like pornography, gambling and so on, but what kind of freaks get drawn into the temptation of political correctness! Academic arseholes is coming to mind! Though to add, pathetic and stupid as it is, it is definitely far from benign in its potential for harm. And actually there is a more basic psychological nature to the temptation here as the drive to power, or will to power, is very primal, and with all these progressive emanations and ideologies, these do very much come within that umbrella.

Useless

Kruder and Dorfmeister remix of Useless by Depeche Mode.

Knowing, Scepticism, Happiness

Only I know what I am going to write next here. Though that’s not actually true. Why? Do others know also? No, the truth is, never mind anyone else, I didn’t even know myself what I was going to write next. It might have sounded confident, and if examined maybe it’s even some kind of a defence of oneself, of the sacredness of one’s inner domains that no one else has access to, but, like I said, I was in a state of ignorance. Which is maybe a very good thing - I was even free of the tyranny of myself!

But, in response, someone might argue, we will agree you were in a state of ignorance, but that ignorance was really only a lack of knowledge. If we possessed sufficient knowledge about the brain and how it functions, then allied with the totality of your personal history, then we would indeed know all things, secret, hidden and future. But our knowledge multiplies by the day, and then with all this knowledge, to quote Josef Stalin, we will become true engineers of the soul. All falsehoods of thought, deeds and future deeds will be rooted out, and we will all rest happily as satisfied and obedient slaves of freedom. And there will be no question of any kind of revolt - for how, and why, would anyone try to revolt against  enlightened reality? For this is this future we are progressing towards: the full enlightenment of material reality.

And, on this question of revolt, why, regarding these ‘sacred inner domains’, unless one’s inner thoughts were somehow in violation of and out of sync with society, things to be ashamed of, would one need one’s inner thoughts to be private? Society is material reality allied to authority, and all this shouting about individuality is really just a revolt against this authority. It is an attempt to say there is some divide between society and its citizens’ thoughts, that they are two separate domains. This is blasphemous and dangerous. Degenerate thoughts must lead to degenerate actions, and it is society’s duty to protect itself and its citizens. It is its duty to know all these thoughts.

I’m not sure how I feel about all that. Something feels off, but maybe it’s just me. There must be some fatal scepticism within me that sabotages my alignment with all this happiness and obedience? Come to think of it though, I once knew someone who said she would feel uncomfortable even passing within the gaze of security cameras, say simply walking by some pub with a camera over its entrance. All this yearning for privacy - how unhealthy!
