Amusingly or tellingly, earlier in the book the mass-murdering totalitarian communist icon Stalin is referred to as ‘The Leader of All Progressive Mankind” - just to remind one of where this wonderful progress led back in the day. Just because you’re progressing somewhere doesn’t mean it’s somewhere you might particularly want to end up.
