The Real World

The more sure someone is of living in the "real world" or "reality", the more certain his utter ignorance as to the nature of this reality within which he imagines himself to be living.

People usually mean 'the limited physical world' or even just 'the banal world' or 'the miserable and futile world' when they talk about 'the real world'. Bonehead often used to accuse me of not living in the real world, back when i was on the dole writing my novel and he was temping. i'd just shrug that i was evidently living in some world or another and it didn't appear to be unreal.
