Get mad first surely. Then get even.

That would seem to be more ideal.
Maybe it should go.....
Let the anger eat away inside. Get drunk, mad and then get even.

Yes far better. Not quite so pithy though so it may not make the cut. Suggest you continue the series though. Suggest "look before you leap" and, for balance, "he who hesitates is lost" (note: may not apply to female readers who can presumably throw all caution to the wind)

I agree. This series of wise sayings could be a real boost for us all.

Don't get mad, get even is the more correct approach for any gentleman, specifically if it is a quest for revenge. Getting mad/angry can reduce you to the same if not lower standing than your tormentor, but appearing cool and even indiffirent while issueing your revenge will give the most satisfaction.

To openly get mad and/or drunk will certainly be a regrettable step. Revenge is a dish best served cold!!!

But the depth of revenge meted out while in the mad, drunken state is likely to be more overwhelming than that in hte cool state of calculating sobriety. If one really wants to dish out revenge in its full glory perhaps one needs to leave one's civilised self far behind. That is unless one is naturally a real vicious bastard while in this ordinary state. In the words of John Lennon
"There's room at the top they are teling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill."
