Cloud

There was a cloud and it wouldn’t rain. People wondered if it ever would. Why did it keep on threatening if it wasn’t going to do anything? Sometimes someone would imagine they felt drops, they might even say as much, but it was hard to know if it was simply their imagining or reality. Maybe they were especially sensitive, maybe it was something else. No downfall anyway would follow.

But the longer it didn’t rain, the more it was going to rain - that was one idea. The longer it didn’t rain, the less likely it was ever going to rain - that was another.
