Dead-end

 A man came to a dead-end, yet he’d been making so much effort to get to this dead-end, not knowing it was dead or an end, that he had no idea now what to do with himself. Should he try to keep going regardless, even if it was impossible? To turn back or go in some other direction - the shame of it!
