Grave
A leading scientist has raised much furore with his claim that gravity is "overrated". "I just don't see what all the fuss is about," he added. Academic colleagues have described his words as " a stab in the back," while a spokesman for the Royal College of Surgeons stated that "In today's climate of existential uncertainty, we find these remarks to be unhelpful."

i'm not joking - there are academics who make their livelihood by arguing, e.g. that gravity is a 'social construct' and so doesn't really exist. The Joy of Curmudgeory (on my blogroll) quotes these people from time to time for sport.
Another classic was some academic claiming that medical science is 'micro-fascism' because it means an authority figure dictates to the patient the facts of the matter, when as we all know there is no such thing as objective reality, just 'social constructs'.
Interesting how one's absurdism merely by virtue of being an emanation of human intelligence does lampoon other emanations of intelligence done in earnest, even when the absurdism is merely an exercise in pure humour.
