US Anthrax Murders Sourced from US Bio-Defense Program

See short clip from History Channel here. "All the spores were sent for immediate forensic testing. The bacterium that killed Robert Stevens was identified as the Ames strain. A strain long favoured by and under the near total control of the US Bio-Defense Program."
Terrorism emanating from the authorities fighting the terror are actually the ones creating the climate of terror? How astonishing. Admittedly it would be slightly more astonishing were not this terrorising tactic such a standard controlling mechanism of government. Though there is always the get-out clause of the lone nut theory for those so inclined.
Naturally it is very easy to govern someone in the absolute sense of control over their consciousness if you are intentionally triggering states of fear and anxiety. Such a mind isn't not free in some dreadful future, but unfree in that present, and such fettered consciousnesses extremely easily manipulated from that state of fear into acquiescing to necessary measures the state is wessentially claiming necessary to alleviate that insecurity and fear; while also feeding off the attendant ego lusts of hatred and love of bullying violence. The vicarious triumph of one's self through the bloody, high-tech victories of the state. Though as some may realise that alleviation never quite arrives. For example, hot on the heels of WW2- the Cold War, and hot on its heels the War on Terror. Which isn't to say the grand stand spectacles of terror don't exist occasionally to justify the hype. They are vital creations and components of the media industry, where news and entertainment are manufactured for the pleasure of all, and the lines between the two are blurred for the benefit of the loyal citizens. As when CNN had the line "The Empire Strikes Back" underlying their 'news' programmes while covering the exciting attacks on Afghanistan after the even more exciting events of 911.
As Thomas Mann wrote in Dr Faustus:

...in the era of the masses, parliamentary discussion would prove utterly inadequate as a means of shaping political will; that in the future what was needed in its place were mythic fictions, which would be fed to the masses as the primitive battle cries necessary for unleashing and activating political energies; that henceforth popular myths, or better, myths trimmed for the masses, would be the vehicle for political action- fables, chimeras, phantoms that needed to have nothing to do with truth, reason, or science in order to be productive, to determine life and history, and thereby to prove themselves dynamic realities.

I have to disagree with you on the Anthrax. This was not a government plot to increase terror. There was terror enough from the 9/11 attacks to cover that. It was known from the start that these were government strains. Those in power bent over backwards to assure everyone that these were not "Muslim extremists". One person who worked at the center where the Anthrax was studied was fingered for the crime and hounded for several years. The government could not prove the case against him. Afterward, he was several million richer. Another troubled scientist at the center recently committed suicide. Afterward the government said he was the culprit all along. Everyone thinks they don't have a clue who mailed the Anthrax. But naming the guy who committed suicide is a good way to solve it. The government looked inept in this case from the beginning.

Well the anthrax case is a very minor situation, but even if we ignore the yet again direct/indirect link of the authorities to the 'terror', we can look at the amount of media focus on the terror related in this case, and the pleasing effect of instilling the desired fear I talked of. It's a very simple reality that government( in the broadest sense including media- the various means of affecting individual consciousness from 'above') oscillates between trying to terrify the shot out of people & 'entertaining' them with the most vacuous of mind numbing entertainment.
We can also rmove ourselves a little from the mindset of what is supposedly sane forms of behaviour, and consider the minds that are creating these biological weapons of death in the first place. We can only hope evil people don't get their hands on these instruments of virtue.

A bit of a look in to the affair has yielded this:

The real culprits behind the 2001 anthrax attack on Congress were most likely US government scientists at the army's Ft. Detrick, MD., bioterrorism lab according to a former government biological weapons legislator and University of Illinois Professor.

Dr Franics A. Boyle says the FBI covered up these facts
Boyle is a leading American professor, practitioner and advocate of international law. He was responsible for drafting the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989, the American implementing legislation for the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention.
"I believe the FBI knows exactly who was behind these terrorist anthrax attacks upon the United States Congress in the Fall of 2001, and that the culprits were US government-related scientists involved in a criminal US government bio-warfare program," Boyle says in his new book Biowarfare and Terrorism.
Only a "handful" of scientists had the means to carry out the attack, yet the FBI ordered the destruction of the anthrax culture collection at Ames, IA., from which the Ft. Detrick lab got its pathogens. Boyle states that only top level scientists with access to "moonsuits" that enabled them to safely process and manufacture super-weapons-grade anthrax could have carried out the attacks.

"The trail of genetic evidence would have led directly back to a secret but officially-sponsored US government biowarfare program that was illegal and criminal" , Boyle said. However, impartial scientists were not allowed to perform genetic reconstruction of the anthrax found in letters mailed to Senators Daschle (D-S.D.) and Patrick Leahy, (D -Vt.) in late 2001.
It is also documented that the anthrax strain used was military grade. This was widely reported in 2002 in publications such as the New Scientist. However, this fact has recently been totally changed with the FBI now suggesting that common anthrax, not military grade anthrax was used.
The whole thing "appears to be a cover-up orchestrated by the FBI." according to Dr Boyle.
In addition, the Bush administration moved to begin planning a major $10 billion expansion of the bioweapons labs at Fort Detrick. Residents in the area have fiercely campaigned against the expansion.

Dr. Jonathan King, Professor of Molecular Biology at M.I.T. and a founder of the Council for Responsible Genetics, says the government's "growing bioterror programs represent a significant emerging danger to our own population."

Also just came across the charming Project SHAD:

Project SHAD stands for Project Shipboard Hazard and Defense, a series of Cold War-era tests by the United States Department of Defense of biological weapons and chemical weapons. Exposures of uninformed and unwilling humans during the testing to the test substances, particularly the exposure to United States military personnel then in service, has added controversy to recent revelations of the project.

Project SHAD was part of a larger effort by the Department of Defense called Project 112. The Project began in 1962 during John F. Kennedy's administration, and it is largely believed that neither Kennedy nor subsequent Presidents knew of Project 112 or SHAD.[citation needed] However, Robert McNamara, Kennedy's Secretary of Defense, did know of and approved these tests.

The official statement on Project SHAD's purpose was "...to identify U.S. war ships vulnerabilities to attacks with biological or chemical warfare agents and to develop procedures to respond to such attacks while maintaining a warfighting capability." 134 tests were planned initially, but only 46 tests were actually completed. In these tests, chemical and biological agents were introduced to military personnel, who were at the time ignorant that they were involved in such an experiment. Nerve agents and chemicals include, but are not limited to, VX nerve gas, Tabun gas, Sarin, Soman, zinc sulfide, cadmium sulfide, and QNB. Biologics include Bacillus globigii, Coxiella burnetti (which causes Q fever), and Francisella tularensis (which causes tularemia or 'rabbit fever').

Insanity never had it so good.

I have to think the Democrats who now control Congress would have all kinds of investigations if there was a chance they could show Bush et al were behind the Anthrax incident. They would love to have a report showing Bush was the culprit, going into the elections in November.

I think you're dwelling in an imaginary land of democracy rather than an oligarchy with a comical masquerade put on for the masses. You've just found a convenient reason, based on nothing but faith in the political system- a faith any real knowledge shows to be utterly misplaced- to keep your mind nicely closed. Thus the slave mentality remains firmly intact. I find it astounding how particularly British & American people seem so inclined to servility in their attitude towards their political 'representatives'.
