“You know what I noticed with all these big crises we get bombarded with, whenever it is the bombardment happens, and whatever particularly the bombardment is about?”
“You mean crises like terrorism, climate, Covid, and so on?”
“Yeah.”
“What did you notice?”
“The solution is always more and more powers to the authorities. And which increase of power for the state is also, like with a weighing scales, now a decrease of power for the individual.”
“Well yeah, of course. That’s the nature of the dynamic.. Power doesn’t just evaporate, it goes somewhere.”
“It’s almost like the crisis, whatever it is, is always just the excuse for that shift in the balance of power.”
“But of course that’s just purely coincidental.”
“Oh yeah. That goes without saying. Pure coincidence.”
